Repairing a Rusted Dishwasher rack

The plastic coating that covers the racks of your dishwasher can wear down over time. For a longer-lasting dishwasher rack, you can:

  1. Cut off the rusted ends with wire-cutting pliers.
  2. Sand the metal lightly to remove any rust.
  3. The ends of the rack can be coated with dishwasher rack paint (available in appliance stores). Turn the rack upside down and dip every tine in the coating.
  4. Let the plastic coating air dry for a minimum of 24 hours before you use the dishwasher.
